2008 - 2009
Kate begins shooting weddings part time and at the end of 2009 quits her day job as her wedding work fills her calendar, with each wedding honing her craft and experimenting with a new style to the Washington, DC area.
2010
A photo of Kate’s is featured on Washingtonian Bride and Groom magazine’s cover, launching her name into Washington, DC scene as a photographer to watch.
2011
Kate opens a brick and mortar studio in Old Town Alexandria.
2012
Southern Weddings: A Planner and Keepsake, a wedding planning book, is published by the editors at Southern Weddings, with Kate’s images through the entire book and cover.
2013
Kate purchases a rowhouse in NW DC and moves her operations there, a more efficient location for her busy travel schedule and editing deadlines.
2014
Kate is named one of just 69 best photographers in the country by Martha Stewart Weddings.
2015
Priscilla Foster Albums names an album the “Kate Book,” a traditional print mounted book, after Kate for her traditionally-minded clients.
2016
Kate has become sought after for her hybrid digital + film style, now shooting many of her weddings outside of Washington, DC.
2017
Maggie Austin’s book Maggie Austin CAKE, the esteemed cake maker’s debut book that Kate meticulously photographed for months with Maggie, is published.
2018
Kate is named one of 74 top wedding photographers by Conde Nast’s BRIDES Magazine and the only photographer in Washington, DC.
2019
Kate celebrates ten years as a full time wedding photographer and woman-owned business— and is named a top vote getter by her peers in Washingtonian Weddings for the 4th year in a row.
2020
As the Covid19 pandemic spreads across the world, outdoor and intimate events become the ‘trend’ of the year. Kate gets involved as a voice in her city for women-owned small business and the wedding industry.
2022
Kate opens a ‘second location’ to her long time base in Washington, DC: a historic cottage in Harbor Springs, Michigan - expanding her wedding & portrait locations deeper into the Midwest.
2023
In addition to her many weddings on the East Coast, Kate photographs celebrations throughout Northern Michigan — on Torch Lake, Glen Lake and Walloon Lake — and also shoots the cover of the local magazine Traverse.
